This is (a new location of) the place that Seinfeld made famous as the "soup nazi". I guess they weren't quite comfortable plastering that title everywhere so they went with the watered-down "soup man".
But even though the name might be watered-down, the soups themselves aren't! (Um... did I just use up my quota of idiot jokes for my entire Confoodant career? Drat. Oh well, it was worth it.)
I've tried most of the soups by now and they're all delicious and fresh-tasting, generous with the ingredients and full of flavor. I love the jambalaya soup, packed with seafood and sausage... the velvety butternut squash... and the bisques (there are crab, lobster, and mixed seafood versions). Often-boring standards like chicken noodle and italian wedding are also excellent here, with richer and more complex flavors than usual.
For the small cup you get, though, the prices are steep, going up to $7.99 for the crab or lobster. (Comes with a desultory piece of bread and fruit.) My advice? Ask for samples of as many as you can before the staff starts glaring at you, and then order whatever's the Special of the Day for $3.99.
