Pylos looks like the perfect date spot with great mood lighting and stylish decor, but the food was very disappointing. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone.
Octopus appetizer was one dimensional, as were the "light as air" meatballs. The Greek salad was good, not as special as our server hyped it up to be.
The one highlight of the night were beautifully marinated, grilled lamb chops, but they were ruined by a side of fingerling potatoes that were under seasoned, dry, and the worst thing I've put into my mouth in months.
If I had to sum up my oppinion of the food at Pylos in one word, I'd say it was boring (bordering on bad for some dishes).
If you want tasty Greek food in a stylish setting, go up to Kefi on the UWS. And if you're looking for an attractive date spot in the East Village, there are plenty of other places to choose from in the area.
