About me:
When it comes to choosing a restaurant, I always want a second opinion, so Yelp used to be a perfect solution (even though I never thought I would post my own reviews). Although their ranking system seemed overly manipulated, Yelp was a convenient source for restaurant info, so I constantly referenced it. But when highly rated restaurants on the site began to fall flat, I was inclined to set the record straight. Over 50 yelp reviews later, I had had enough and decided to create The Confoodant, a place where a network of trusted food enthusiasts could grow and post their opinions.
Is it just a blog?
Confoodant.com is still in development, but the network of confoodants has already begun to grow and are invited to post their reviews on The Confoodant blog until the real website is up and running. The blog doesn't provide the features that the full site will, but just think of it as a temporary home to start sharing restaurant tips with people you trust (and who trust you).
1 Reviews:
The restaurant lives up to the hype. David Chang may have made his name in Asian fusion, but Ko's soul is clearly in French haute cuisine. What you'll see are a lot of very creative and successful dishes using classic ingredients: caviar with smoked egg and potato chips, shaved foie gras on lychee, seared duck with vinegared cherries. The quality and consistency of the experience easily puts Ko on par with the best restaurants in the city.
But what really separates Ko is the intimate bar setting and casual ambiance. There are other fine dining restaurants, like Babbo, where the music is more likely to be Hendrix than Gershwin and diners are wearing jeans more often than suits. But with the small L-shaped bar, Chang has created a setting similar to a sushi bar, where diners are able to observe the food preparation at arm's length. Watching the extraordinarily delicate and exacting process of preparing a 10+ course meal for 11 people, almost simultaneously, is part of what makes a meal at Ko so exciting.
